Digital Twins – A digital replica of a living or non-living physical entity

A digital twin is the generation or collection of digital data representing a physical object. The concept of digital twin has its roots in engineering and the creation of engineering drawings/graphics. Digital Twins are the outcome of continuous improvement in the creation of product design and engineering activities. Product drawings and engineering specifications progressed from handmade drafting to computer aided drafting/computer aided design to model-based systems engineering.

The digital twin concept consists of three distinct parts: the physical product, the digital/virtual product, and connections between the two products. The connections between the physical product and the digital/virtual product is data that flows from the physical product to the digital/virtual product and information that is available from the digital/virtual product to the physical environment.

We provide a full service of design, implementation, management and maintenance of the digital twin. The level of interface interaction can be determined by budget, and scaled against cost benefit. The existence of well maintained (as built) drawings, technical documentation and a 3D model can provide huge benefits. By owning and maintaining a digital twin, future work can proceed without the requirement for additional surveys which reduces cost, schedule and personnel risk.

The development of a digital twin begins with the production or verification of a PDMS model, followed by a collection of all available functional specifications and drawings. This information is linked together via an application interface.

The final interface and software utilised to drive the interface is budget dependent, but every level has cost and schedule benefits on project or maintenance scopes.

The perfect partners

Keep asset information accessible

Would gaining instant and easy access to the technical information of your asset be a benefit to your business, the answer is obvious, and we can organise, manage and maintain your data for you.

Imagine being able to trace any item from it’s tag number, instantly review the P&ID, the data sheet and any support requirements, while being able to check accessibility via a 3D model, without leaving your office desk, it is all possible with a digital twin.

The digital twin has been around for many years, but it is gaining more notoriety now with advancements in technology, allowing greater control of the asset from a remote location, although this remote technology has it’s benefits, it’s not always a cost effective solution.

A digital twin is not dependent on the constant data exchange between the physical and the virtual, by maintaining and providing instant access to all documents, drawings and technical information of the equipment, your investment will see huge cost and schedule benefit, while scalable to suit your expectations and needs.

Secure Storage

All model data is securely stored on an air gapped system, ensuring zero external accessibility.

fast and secure distribution

All PDMS models are distributed on encrypted drives, these will normally be delivered to the owner for distribution to any third party as required. Upon completion the information can be verified and modifications incorporated into the stored copy.

The primary copy will always be secure.

PDMS UPDATES

As-building services are available on the PDMS model and 2D deliverables if required, ensuring that all your information is up to date and readily available.
